Influence of Mentoring Practices at the Northcap University

 Mentoring:

Mentoring is described as a relationship between a mentor and a mentee, with an objective to support the mentee’s personal and professional development. AT NCU, Mentoring goes beyond this traditional path, it is designed in a tailored manner for each student’s unique requirements and accomplishments. For every 15 students, a mentor is allotted who interacts the students twice in a month, identifies their problem and suggests a quick resolution. 

Mentoring Philosophy at NCU:

At NCU, there is a belief that every individual has a great potential to excel. The mentoring principles lies in three E’s namely empowerment, empathy, and ethics. Inculcating Ethics amongst the students, empowering them with a sense of achievement, and providing them empathy for the society. Mentors at NCU are the trusted advisors of the students and they are the role models for our students. 

Brief details of Mentoring activities at NCU:

The diversified array of mentoring activities and independent initiatives caters a diversified need for the students. These practises include career counselling, support by the peer groups, mentoring by industry professionals, and their Alumni mentors. Throughout the year, the students get immensely benefited-be it personal or professional endeavours. 

Impact of Mentoring practises on student’s success:

As per the recent data that was analysed for the past two sessions, students have been benefited tremendously by the mentoring practises at NCU. Mentored students have shown improvements in their CGPA, their attendance has improved, and moreover they have reported an increase in the level of motivation, and now they feel more engaged in the activities. The students now feel more accountable to what work they are submitted. 


Role of mentoring in personal development

Apart from the academic achievements, mentoring plays a vital role to play in personal growth of the students. Our mentors provide a supportive environment for students so that they can explore their own interests, develop mandatory life skills, thereby building resilience. Through these sessions, the students acquire skills, and get a support on areas for growth, thereby helping them to sail through every walk of life. 

Mentoring makes students career ready

The importance of mentoring lies in the fact that the student shall not suffer when they are transitioning from a university culture to the corporate world. Mentoring at NCU plays a pivotal role in getting internships, making the students placement ready, searching the prospective job opportunities, and making new connections. By connecting the students with industry and alumni mentors, the students are able to equip themselves with the sufficient knowledge in their chosen fields.
