An Integrated Pedagogical Approach for Teaching Iot Cybersecurity Framework in the Northcap University
The internet of Things(IoT) is the interconnection of devices that connect as well as share the data with other devices over the internet. This field includes many technologies such as ubiquitous computing, sensors, embedded systems, cyber security, machine learning and many more. In today’s digitally connected world, IoT field is used everywhere such as building smart homes, medical and healthcare, transportation, industrial automation, agriculture, manufacturing etc. There are many concerns that are raising by the use of IoT technologies such as cyber threat, security, privacy, standards, guidelines, regulatory, compliance and many more. Therefore, to safeguard the data through IoT devices from the cyber-attack is the necessity of today’s digitally connected world.
To overcome the above-mentioned problems, IoT cybersecurity education should be introduced to the individuals with skill and knowledge to identify various vulnerabilities, threats and risk as well as know about various mitigation steps and respond effectively in the situation, when cyber threat occur in the IoT environment.
To address these challenges, The NorthCap University in Gurugram India, has taken up the initiative to educate the students in IoT Cyber Security Framework about the specific vulnerabilities, threat and risk associated with the IoT devices. This include common cyber-attack vectors such as ransomwares, Botnets, Trojan, Denial of Service attack as well as learning of how to implement security measures such as encryption, authentication, role based access control, Identity access management etc.
The NorthCap University offers the specialized programme of cyber security to address emerging Cyber threats and its remediation steps especially in the domain of IoT. The University provides excellent curriculum which includes latest topics such as introduction of Cyber Security, Network Security, Risk Analysis and Assessment, blockchain, Malware Analysis in the IoT domain. To tackle real word cyber security challenges, university provides hands-on and industry relevant training.
Moreover, The NorthCap University provides excellent internship and placements in the specialized field of cybersecurity in IoT. The university have partnership with reputed multinational companies, academic and government organizations such as NTRO (National Technical Research Organization) to strengthen the syllabus, real world projects, internship and placement opportunities, workshop, seminar and guest lectures etc.
The NorthCap University is also having partnership with EC-Council. Through this partnership, students can access valuable training materials, ebooks, iLabs with hacking tools, Exam Vouchers, and Instructor-Led Live Online Training. Through these types of facilities, students can understand the mindset of cyber hacker and deeply penetrate into the system as well as understand effectively how to safeguard against cyber-attack.
In today’s scenario, the need of IoT security professionals is in high demands. Many MNC’s are recruiting the IoT security specialist for ensuring the security of IoT related hardware’s, software’s , communication channels, networks and data centers. Their job responsibilities include identifying assets, threat, vulnerabilities and risk as well as finding out the mitigating step for it. IoT security specialist is also required to implement the security measures such as Firewall, Identity access management, incident response system, disaster recovery, etc.
The NorthCap University provides the commitment to the students to become cyber guardian in the IoT era after the successful completion of specialized cyber security programme. This excellent programme is helpful for the students to have hands-on experience, industrial project, industrial training, internships to deal with the latest cyber security threats, zero-day attacks and finding out the solutions to protect the infrastructures from these problems. As automation increases then the growth of IoT also increases, to protect the world from cyber-attacks, The NorthCap university is always present to provide excellent IoT security specialist by continuously updating its curriculum, cyber security excellence lab with latest tool and industry partnership.
Moreover, this university organises workshop, seminar and conferences to spread awareness about cyber security to the community. Recently, department of computer science and Engineering has organized the “International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Cybersecurity” on 3rd and 4th May 2024 sponsored by IEEE and DST-SERB. In this conference, more than 1000 papers were submitted all over the globe and only 25% papers were accepted. This conference has 16 sessions, in which one of the session discussed about the IoT and Cloud Security and its future scope.
